  • From "Windmill" to "Time-Honored Brand"—The Path of Craftsmanship Inheritance of Siming Chunlu

  • Release Time:2026-07-22
  • In the tea-making workshop of Ningbo Siming Chunlu Tea Industry Development Co., Ltd., surrounded by modern machinery, a somewhat old wooden windmill stands out. This old-fashioned manual wind separator has long been retired, but it bears witness to three generations of tea-making dedication and craftsmanship.

The story of Siming Chunlu begins in 1979. That year, Hesheng Tea Farm was established in Huangming Township, Liangnong District, Yuyao, mainly producing "round-fried green tea," which was the "predecessor" of Siming Chunlu white tea. The founder was the maternal grandfather of Jiang Liping, the current head of Siming Chunlu. Yuyao is one of the earliest tea-producing areas in my country, and the aroma of tea permeated Jiang Liping's childhood memories. When filling out her college application, she unhesitatingly chose the Tea Science Department of Zhejiang Agricultural University (now the Tea Science Department of Zhejiang University).

In 2002, Yuyao Yili Tea Factory was established. Jiang Liping began to innovate tea-making techniques, creating the "Siming Chunlu" brand, and officially registered the trademark in 2006. The phrase "craftsmanship" is infused into every single tea leaf. Through high-temperature rapid enzyme deactivation and low-moisture control technology, Siming Chunlu green tea achieves its unique qualities: emerald green appearance, vibrant color, high and lasting aroma, and a bright, tender green liquor.

Today, the "Siming Chunlu" brand has developed over ten product series, including March Buds, April Sprouts, May Fragrance, Siming Chunlu White Tea, Golden Buds, Dragon Pearls, and High Mountain Black Tea. In 2022, "Siming Chunlu" was recognized as a Ningbo Time-Honored Brand. In 2020, Siming Chunlu White Tea won the first "Zhejiang Province Featured Souvenir" title.

"Lu (露) carries the meaning of rain and dew's grace; we must give back to farmers and lead them to prosperity," said Jiang Liping. Since its establishment, the tea factory has leased over 100 mu (approximately 6.7 hectares) of idle land from surrounding villagers, allowing them to enjoy land lease fees and work in the tea gardens. This deep affection for the land and the villagers, like that retired windmill, though silent, has witnessed the growth of Siming Chunlu from a tea factory to a time-honored brand.
